Malaga (Airport) – Zahara de Los Atunes

From Malaga Airport follow the signs Algeciras / Cadiz ( N340 ). Follow the N340 past Torremolinos. When you reach Fuengirola the N340 turns right to follow the coast line. Instead go straight-ahead and follow the sign ‘Paeje’ (Toll route) to Algeciras. Follow the Peaje all the way to Algeciras. (You’ll pass Fuengirola, Marbella and 4 tunnels on your way).

Just before Algeciras the Peaje stops and turns into the N340 again. Follow this road around the city in the direction Tarifa / Cadiz. Keep following the N340 through the hills with the many windmills until you reach Tarifa ( Note: on the top of the hill between Algeciras and Tarifa you can enjoy a splendid view of Marocco on a clear day ).

Don’t turn off on the N340 at Tarifa but follow the road in the direction of Cadiz. After about 35 kilometres and the villages off Facinas and Tahivilla, you’ll see the sign ‘Zahara de Los Atunes’ on your right hand. (This is a good time to ring the caretaker to tell him that you are getting close).

Turn left here and follow this road ( the CA 2221) all the way until you reach the village of Zahara de Los Atunes. At the roundabout turn into the village and follow the signs for ‘ATLANTERRA’ which will take you through the village into the suburban area. You’re now driving parallel to the beach into the direction of the holiday complex ‘Jardines de Zahara’. Follow the road until you see the ‘Grupo Q’ building on your right hand. Take a right directly after this building (before the Hotel Atlanterra) and you’ll see the big blue house on the corner. Number A 62, ‘La Casa Azúl ‘.

Total time: appr. 2 to 2 ½ hours depending on speed and traffic.

Sevilla ( Airport) – Zahara de Los Atunes

Upon leaving the Airport take the ‘Peaje’ highway to Jerez de la Frontera and the direction of Cadiz. Just before Cadiz the motorway turns left in the direction of Algeciras. Follow the motorway all the way to the end in the direction of Tarifa/ Algeciras until you reach the turnoff at the end of the motorway after the village of Vejer de la Frontera where you turn right into the direction of Barbate. This is a good time to ring the caretaker. Follow this road until you reach Barbate. When you enter this village (the Lidl supermarket on your left hand), you take the roundabout for three quarters in the direction of Zahara de Los Atunes. You’re now driving parallel to the beach leaving Barbate behind you. When you reach the Zahara roundabout, turn right into the village and follw the signs for ‘Atlanterra’ which will take you through the village into the suburban area. You’re now driving parallel to the beach into the direction of the holiday complex ‘Jardines de Zahara’. Follow the road until you see the ‘Grupo Q’ building on your right hand. Take a right directly after this building ( before the Hotel Atlanterra! ) and you’ll see the big blue house on the corner. Number A 62, ‘La Casa Azúl ‘.
